Oh, the Plastics. We all have them. Wether it's at school, work, home.... maybe even at freaking squash, or something wierd you do. They're everywhere. The plastics are that group of people, male or female, who seem to do EVERYTHING right, who get better, special treatment from the current authority, who always go that extra mile, who are (if female) skinny, pretty, smart, or (if male), ripped, get the promotion, and all the women. The name "Plastics" originates from the traditional Barbie Dolls. Perfect, cold, hard plastic. But mostly, it came from the movie, "Mean Girls," to be honest. :D Anyhow... don't you hate them?
Being fourteen years old, just about to finish my elementary school career, I've honestly dealt with Plastics a LOT. At school, there's a group of four girls... who have it all. And on top of everything else, they're really bitchy about a lot of things... it sort of makes me want to kill them. Really Badly.
We have this thing, called the perfect board, where every time someone gets a 100% mark on an assignment, they get a stamp beside their name on a piece of chart paper.. It's so fucking stupid.
If their goal is to make 20 kids feel like shit all at once, they succeeded. It's really hard to look at that piece of shit paper, and see your name, with maybe 15 stamps by your name, while the Plastics are clean off the charts.. by the end of second term. It's bullshit. They get treated like princesses, and the rest of us are commoners... so much for equality, eh?
Not too long ago, a few close friends and myself, started a group.. more of a movement, called "RTBS" which stood for "Rebel That Bull Shit." It was exactly that: a rebellion. We misbehaved, we treated the plastics like shit, we did NO homework for a good 4 months.. the point was to show the teachers what we would look like if we DESERVED to be treated the way we were being treated. I, the leader of this rebellion... ended up suspended for two days due to it. I don't care. RTBS is still an active movement, although, we have changed the name to "RATS." Rage Against The Shit... in honor of one of my favourite bands, Rage Against The Machines. We have been successful in some cases with RTBS, and have failed in others. But either way, the fact that we're SUCCESSFUL is what counts. And as long as that's what we're focused on, we're not gonna shut up. :D
My lesson learned from these experiences, is that rebellion is healthy. And it's fun. And it DOES make a difference.
Rebellion can be applied to many- almost all - areas in life. As far as Plastics go, I strongly recommend starting a RATS group at your school, work, whatever. But if people ask, RTBS (our reccomended name, as opposed to RATS), stands for "Right To Be Stupid."
more to be written about, at another time.
this has been, the cold hard truth.... in my opinion.
